    Make over...

Hey Wildatheart, I've posted this in the past but this is the best solution I've found! I don't think any blaze orange is going to be perfectly PC but this works for my tastes. Plus it's warm and helps keep the weather off of you. Chuck

Dry Firing a Flint before a hunt

I always test my flint before loading for a hunt. A friend and I were going on an early turkey scout in April. We were going to stay overnight. He did something I've never seen anyone do he loaded a prime in the pan and snapped it. He said it was to burn out any oil. I told that was not a...

    Who HAS NEVER dry balled?

Hey Guys I did get a new name for a month or two. I once dry balled several times in a row I can't remember how many 3 or 4 altogether I dry balled 5 or 6 times that day. In my defence I had just started taking about 4 types of new medicine the day before. On the last one I just cased her up...

Hunting WITH or WITHOUT jag installed??

Yes Sir I agree with Stumpy I keep mine in a little pocket in the back of my possible bag. Easy to find and easy to screw on after the shot. As my mentor says all the time no sense in rushing after the shot. I guess he assumes we should never miss. :rotf: Chuck

    Blowing down the barrel?

Well T-Bone the point is it sets an example to others maybe some of them aren't as bright as you. When I'm at our ML club's range and there are 10 to 15 others shooting. It can be quite busy this one shooting from a bench another one or two shooting offhand . All the while a half a dozen...

    leaving guns loaded

Hey fellows I know I said BP was not hygroscopic. What I meant to say is that it's not enough to hurt leaving it loaded for awhile. Here's what the BP notebook and Bob Spencer has to say about it. "If you are not going to shoot again immediately, the pan must be cleaned of *every last bit* of...

    Blowing down the barrel?

I'm sorry tg I thought the question was who blew his head off while blowing down the barrel; Oh wait a minute I am sorry. Sorry you're wrong again my friend. :blah: I was answering Voyageur's question to quote him, Voyageur Said: "I doubt that we'll ever get answers to our questions Cooner...

    Blowing down the barrel?

You doubt wrong Mr. Voyageur. Ok fellows, I hesitated to answer your question but here's your answer. I didn't want to admit that the Darwin award went to someone from my home state. The incident happened June 5, 1995 a man and his son were at a shoot and his son had popped 2 or 3 caps and the...

    leaving guns loaded

Not true black powder is not hydroscopic in and of itself. Once it's been burnt it is very hydroscopic. After all is said and done the water is what causes rust and corrosion. I've left my ML loaded for months with no ill effect. Surely you don't think the frontiersmen unloaded theirs daily...

    Blowing down the barrel?

Well I have to agree with Roundball and others who don't blow. It's hard for me to tell dozens of youngsters and/or newcomers to the sport never to point any gun at anything you don't want to destroy. And also to treat all guns as if they are loaded and then point a 50 cal. at my brain! So I...

how long do you let them hang?

Once again you speak the truth Ron I couldn't agree with you more especially the last part! :rotf: I let a big old doe hang for 2 weeks once. All my huntin' buddies said you're going to have to cut that thing down and bury it. Look the eyes done dried up and sunk in it's skull! Well now they...

Traditonal Muzzleloaders In Regular Gun Season ??

Hey Scrounger if you'll check a little deeper, I believe you will find that if you're using a muzzleloader during reg firearms season that swivel barrel will be legal or a double barrel. It's only during the ML only season that it must be a single barrel ML in WV! Chuck :redthumb:

    Neck Knives let's see um

Hey Deadeye, Who made your knives and sheathes! Just curious I'm looking for someone to make be a beaded up one like the first one here. Except I want a red black and white color scheme! I like the second ones shape more I think though! Chuck :redthumb:

Who's doing "Blackpowder Doves" this fall??

I hope to get in a little dove hunting this fall but our nusance goose season opens the same time as dove Sept. 1st. My lab likes em geese a lot more than the doves as he likes to get wet as much as possible! LOL! Plus in the early season we're allowed 5 Canada geese as opposed to 3 in the Oct...
