Comments on Mike Belliveau's Colt Hammer mods

I really enjoy watching his videos and I hope is fight with the city is a win for him. I've learned a lot from his videos and look forward to many more.

Deer Hunting with a Ruger Old Army

Your right, everyone has a preference. I've used both out of a Hawkin and both were effective. To your point though the PRB has been proven time and time again...

Why are there no 40 cal Revolvers?

This /\. There is certainly no shortage of work, just the shortage of skilled labor.

    Unboxing disappointment

Disappointing for sure, I don't have Pedersoli but have several on my wish list that I eventually hope to get too. I hope they get it taken care of for you.

    The Revenant.

I like the film The Revenant. I enjoyed it quite a bit and even if it had some inaccuracies was just happy to see a film of the period. Its a seasonal film for me, usually in January on a cold night with a warm fire going inside I'll put it on and enjoy.

What a time to try this hobby.

Now's the time to start checking the stores. Especially Walmart and the likes, when they start putting out their fall hunting stuff for muzzleloading season is when I usually pick up a few tins.

    LeMat Revolver

I don't have one but I like you they've always caught my eye. I've watched Mike Beliveau's video on them and enjoyed it. Hope you get some good feedback on them, I'd be curious myself.

    I love Snubbies

My first thought too! I will admit though not really functional, I do like the aesthetics better with the loading lever than without!

    It's a question about cleaning

Soapy water here and a good oiling afterwards but seeing some comments on Windex so I might try that next time.

    1849 As A First "Colt"?

The 1851 Navy in .36 was first and liked it so much I got a 1860 Army. Now I can't decide between an 1861 or 1849... Between the two I currently find the 1851 fits my hand the best and I enjoy shooting it the most. I like the styling of the 1860, the frame just feels large in my hand.

Do not buy an 1862 Police from Midway

I doubt it as well. As a distributor of various outdoor goods their receipt inspection is probably more of did I receive the correct stuff and quantity. From there I'm sure its longed into whatever system they use and taken to its designated place in their warehouse until an order is placed.

Do not buy an 1862 Police from Midway

Not to continue to beat a dead horse but both my Pietta 1851 and 1860 came from Midway and both were fine and I had no complaints. Most resellers/distributors receipt inspections are typically just to make sure the received the correct item for their purchase order and the correct quantity...

Colt ships arms to the Confederates.

I heard this and that many blew up in the shooter's hands as the fluted cylinders weren't strong enough for the load and one of the reasons Colt went away from it.

    Hunting with a percussion rifle

Half cock here. I hunt with a T/C New Englander and have taken many deer and hogs with it. I've always carried at half cock as I alway felt it was the safest way to go. Hammer down I was always concerned should I misstep or fall the impact may be enough to fire off the cap with the muzzle in...

    Cap and ball revolver question

I like to clean the discharged cylinders as I like you don't want to waste caps and powder. While I find it fun regardless to shoot sometimes I'd rather keep the other chambers loaded. I remove the caps from the unfired chambers and clean the fired ones. Q-tips and a little bit of solvent has...
