    Got to fire this of at the Big Island Rendezvous in Albert Lea, MN. A .98 cal flintlock, what is known as a British wall gun. Nice trigger pull at 7 to 8 pounds.

    slow match

    I have a question, got some match from Dixe gun works. Problem is i have a hard time getting the priming charge to go off on my cannons, i am using 3f, it goes fine if i use a grill lighter, (not safe). I have been told that i do not have a bright red tip on my match, it looks a dull red.

    soft frizzen

    I have read where some people have glued hard steel on to frizzens to make them spark. I have 2 that need working on, and am thinking about gluing on hardened steel on mine. Has any one done this, and what steel do/did get used.

    I have a question how many of us play with mortars, am i the only one here, that shoots one. I do blank fire at civil war events and get to do live fire at 2 events a year(lost 5 mortar balls this year $80 each). I know this is about cannons but they are all artillery pices in the end. Hope...

    Barrel finish

    I think that I will leave the barrel for now as I need it in 2 weeks. Will cold blue it later and let it brown by it self, as with my .50 CVA hawking, I like the way it looks now just remember to give it a good rub down with oil once a year.

    New toy

    Having got a mortar this August I have had fun with it. It is a 24 pound colhorn, and has a range of a 1/2 mile!. The best thing is you can watch the ball and see how the wind will blow it of course. I do civil war and other events with it. :grin: Peter

    Hi from Minnesota

    I live in Albert Lea,MN. And been in to muzzle loading for about 5 years. I own a cva .50 hawken, a cva .45 pistol and 2 big toys. The first is a 1.25inch cannon and my latest toy is a 5in bore coehorn mortar. :) Peter
