Missed seeing you, Daniel! Hope you get better quick. Mike was turning out legs of some kind; fascinating to watch. See you in the fall. Susie

    Friendship IN.

(In order to shoot on the primitive side of the property, one must dress in period (pre 1840)attire, load from pouch and horn etc.) This is true for some of the matches, but there are lots available where period dress is not required. What is required, however, is open fixed sights on most...

    Need some rondy tunes!

When is your Rondezvous? I'm having shoulder surgery, but if it's at a time we can play or make it over there, we might be interested. We live pretty well due west and a little north near the Grand Kankakee Marsh in Indiana. Susie

OT: Why we call 'em FLINCH-Locks!

I'm just a fragile little old lady and all I shoot is my 45 cal. flintlock rifle-love it-and am still shooting it at 67 years of age (and I even win something once and a while)! It's all in your head. I don't even notice the fire. Susie

    NMLRA Women's Weekend

Have to edit my previous post-brain freeze! The Women's shoot at Fship is NEXT year, 2007. Gives everyone plenty of time to schedule it in. Should be a nice event, especially for those who want to learn more about the sport of muzzleloading. Susie

    Muzzleloading Lady

Glad to see another female involved in what has been an important part of my life for my whole life. Both my adult children shoot with my husband and me and they have had a great education growing up in this sport. My daughter and son have both started shooting smoothbores this year and are...

    new to ML, flintlocks

You're right on there! One tends to forget after a while all the people that helped them get where they are today. We have so many shooters around here, it's hard to picture no one else around! It's a lot easier to learn with someone right there to watch and correct errors and give advice! Susie

    new to ML, flintlocks

One thing I would add to your list, especially for a beginner, is a CO2 discharger for when you forget the powder-most do at one time or another and it's a lot safer than trying to pull the ball. When I changed from my nail-driver percussion to flint, I never went back. A lot of people are...

    elbow placement?

I've got a friend who shot a flint off the hip and ended up with powder burns on the inside of his elbow. He never did that again. S

    cleaning the lock

I've had my small Siler on my rifle for over 20 years. Every few times I shoot, or after a main competition, I take it off, scrub it well with a toothbrush and solvent, getting it as clean as possible, then spray it with tri-flow and put it back in the rifle. This rifle shoots pretty clean. I...

Where can I find information upcoming rendezvous

Go to www.nmlra.org and click on enter, then click on upcoming events, then click on National Rendezvous. These are the rendezvous sanctioned by NMLRA. I'm sure there are lots of others, like the Alafai coming up in Florida in January, but I have no info on them. You might use your search...

    How tight should patches be?

One that's thick enough to make a good seal, but you can still load reasonalbly. I always pick up a few of mine every once and a while after they're shot and see if they're still intact of if they are blown out. I like a densely woven light weight denim .012, but most people I shoot with use...

    reggie sullivan?

I've E-mailed my friend for info-he's probably at hunting camp so may be a while before I hear from him. He probably has Reggie's address and phone number. I know Reggie custom built a rifle for him several years ago. I don't know if he still has it. My husband's pistol had 2 barrels; one...

    reggie sullivan?

I'm pretty sure Reggie Sullivan is/was from Indiana. A good friend of mine has/had some fire arms he made, and I think my husband had some kind of strange pistol he made-real different if I remember correctly. Will try to find some more info for you on him and get back to you. Susie
