Looking forward to seeing that! (I'm taking notes for my future builds. Really appreciate folks like you sharing your processes and results.)

Looks amazing as always. Are you going to brown the lock too?

Building a Chambers Little Fella's Rifle

Wow. There are no words. I got to visit Chambers' shop last month and it was the trip of a lifetime. You are definitely doing justice to the kit. Very impressive and exciting for this newbie to watch. Wish more builders would take the time to do detailed step-by-step blogs like this.

Flintlocks at the range and accuracy

Thanks for the input. I checked again and my range is technically "unsupervised" though there are full-time range safety guys there in the shack behind the firing line. Just got more powder...I'll probably take it out next time I go.

Flintlocks at the range and accuracy

Howdy gents, I've got two rank beginner questions here... 1. How well should my Pedersoli Brown Bess shoot? Say, at 50yds what MOA should I expect? That's probably a somewhat anachronistic term in this context, but it's what I know. I use .69 balls, two lubed patches so it doesn't fall down...

Gonna help a bunch of foreign students shoot my BB.

So in two weeks a CCW instructor from my church will be taking 30+ Chinese college students shooting. I'll be there along with a couple other folks to help maintain safety and I'm thinking of bringing along my Bess. Should be a fun chance for them to experience a wide range of American...

Proof I actually do shoot it...

Brown Bess cleaning nightmare - Newbie

Very very helpful. That sounds like exactly what is going on. I now keep it on a wall rack with the muzzle pointed down, so some of that should be eliminated, but thanks for the pointers. spudnut: Good point. :) Hadn't thought of all that rifling. Sounds like I need to get out and shoot it...

Brown Bess cleaning nightmare - Newbie

Just by way of following up... I did end up sending it to Dixie's armorer for cleaning. I was about to leave on a 4month business trip and needed to have the peace of mind knowing that it was cleaned up and wouldn't be deteriorating while I was away. Wow did it come back nice! There...

    Greetings from the Ohio Territory

Thanks for the warm welcome! I can tell this site is quickly going to become daily reading for me. Lots of knowledge here. This is definitely going to be a fun adventure. It's not exactly hobby #1 for me right now, but the interest is there. I've got a good friend (about 40yrs older) who hunts...

Brown Bess cleaning nightmare - Newbie

Wow. You all are amazing....thank you very much. Looks like I found the right forum. This is way more info than I thought I'd get! By way of update: I was able to fashion a little worm-like tool out of my broken wadding puller and some electrical wire. That got rid of pretty much all the...

    Greetings from the Ohio Territory

Hello, I found this forum on a panicked search for cleaning info on my musket (see smoothbore forum) and am happy to be here. I'm a big history buff, hence the Brown Bess musket, but know little to nothing about caring for or the operation of these guns. Frankly, other than a couple .22s, I'm...

Brown Bess cleaning nightmare - Newbie

Good morning everyone, As the title suggests, I'm a newbie at this. Thanks for having me on board, and I hope I'm not too much of a nuisance. I have a Pedersoli Brown Bess that was gifted to me. I'm fastidious about keeping it clean and regularly spend over 2 hours going over it after the...
