Looking to blast some wasp nests...

Yes, they think it's a hornets nest, and bug out.

Looking to blast some wasp nests...

Get a paper bag, the kind you would pack a lunch in, keep bag "inflated", tie off opening, hang 6' to 8' away from nest. The buggers will leave on their own. We have done this around the outside of the house, and we have no wasps. We used to have a very large numbers of nests spring up in the...

    Shot my Lyman Deerstalker

Well, at least you saw a couple. Now you know where two are, it is just a matter of finding where they water at. :)

    Humbled once again

Sounds like great shooting to me! I wish we had those kind of shoots here. :(

    Seeking some guidance

I guess I was just taking my sons experience with his, just because it is BP, even though he shoots "fake" BP in it with sabots, and trying to apply it to mine. It is the only real life experience I have to compare it to. I really wish I knew some one around here, who shoots flints. :(

    Seeking some guidance

I have been shooting .375 H&H, and .50 BMG bolt guns over the years, and recoil has never been an issue with me. This was no different. One of my sons, who shoots a Hawken, was the one who suggested that when my 70gr charges were hitting well below the target at 60 yards, that I up the...

    Seeking some guidance

I wasn't shooting for group, I was trying to raise the POI to meet the POA. Now it looks like, I will have to file on the front sight. Not something I was wanting to do.

    Seeking some guidance

Thanks guys. I did recover that last two patches, and they were burned bad. I have read on here, that that is a bad thing. Next time I get out, I will go down to 75gr. and see what happens. Again, thanks so much for all your help.

    Seeking some guidance

It is a .50 colrain barrel with RBR. That is all I know about the barrel. I am just finding it hard to believe that such a large change in powder charge would raise the impact so little at such a close range. This is my first BP. And this site is all the help I have with this. Thanks

    Seeking some guidance

Well, I finally got to do some shooting. Just trying to find a load that will hit what I am aiming at. This group was fired at 60 yards, and the funny thing about it, is that this is with three different charge weights, 85gr. 95gr. and 110gr. I didn't have time to do more shooting, so now I...

First muzzle loader. Never wanted a cap gun. LOL Edit to add: I wanted a swamped barrel, patch box, and sling button.

It's a long story, but I went from one with many options, to this one, which is a basic rifle with a premium stock. It has a chambers lock, and a strait colerain barrel with round bottom rifling. This wife said if I did this, she would let me order a Fowler this fall, as apposed to waiting till...
