As promised, the Derringer at 30ft. (for Oldbear63) The hole at 10 o'clock gets a little bit bigger

    Scottish Highland Flintlock

Just had to share. I'd been asked to give a presentation on Derringers and other small arms and have been wanting to get this guy out to the range in forever. Shot my Derringer (repro, .45cal, rifled) first but didn't video it (it's the hole on the second ring at 3 o'clock). Then I held my phone...

    GPR w/.533 Minie

First time out with the new .533 Minies. 60 grains FFF (might bring that down to 50), lubed with beeswax/Crisco/canola oil mixture. Dead on at 50yds. Workin' on getting to 100 with consistency. Slow-mo shows the three stages. Flinter at night

    peep sight for Renegade

Hey there, So, I've decided to go with a peep sight for the Renegade and I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with the Williamsâ„¢ FP-Hawken Peep Sight. There seem to be 2 models (1340 & 1342). Is there a difference? Oh, and does it matter that the Renegade is a lefty? Thanks in advance.

rear sight for TC New Englander

Hello all, would anyone know where I could get a Rear Sight (not a peep sight) for my TC New Englander? I've done some looking and the only one I can find is an ugly thing called a 'Williams Gun Sight'.

    Frizzen: replace or repair

So, I just picked up my 1st rock-lock: a slightly used GP .54 lefty flinter. Took it out to the range with new flints and was getting anemic sparks, when it sparked at all. Shifted the position of the flint, and did the usual adjustments that I researched both here and at other flint-info...

    Flint Revolver Carbine

Just thought I'd share what I'm working on. Came into the museum at the end of 2015...just getting to it now. Manufactured by Blunt & Syms in 1819. The little box holds enough primer for several charges and opens to fill the pan (by way of a notched cam) the the frizzen is lowered. The cylinder...

    re-boring a GPH .54 -> .58

Hello all, I have a left-handed GP Hunter (.54) that I'd like to have re-bored to .58 with a slow twist. It's a 1" diameter, so there shouldn't be an issue. Is this the proper forum (or section thereof...yup, I just used "thereof") to get a recommendation for someone (or company) that would do...

    Holding the stock

I know this is going to be a "if it works for you, do it" question, but I get asked about it a fair bit on the range. When I shoot freehand (all the time) I support the stock with three fingers and thumb. Don't grip, don't wrap, just rest the rifle. I'm smackin' 1 sqft steel at 100yds, so it...

    Kodiak Dbl .58 (1984)

So I cast my Minies (Lee, thin skirt) bought some Hornady .570's and headed out to the range for my 1st real day with the new (to me) double rifle. Freehanding 50 and 75 yds and the metal was ringing - 100 and I'm all over the place. I'll figure that part out eventually, I guess. My question is...

    mfg date of TC Renegade

I contacted TC about this and was informed that due to a fire in '98 all records were lost. Can anyone here date a .54 TC Renegade SN# L379725? (She's good-lookin', feels great in the hands, and is as true as you could ask...and packs a wallop if you don't hold her just right. )

    300 vs 380 for 200 yds

Hi there, I'm starting to cast for my .54 GPH and I was wondering whether the 300gr or 380gr REAL would be the better choice. I'm only target shooting, out to 200-250 yds, so lethality is not an issue. My limited knowledge of ballistics suggest that the longer 380 might perform better with the...
