    Engraving metal on a rifle?

I am looking for some advice on a project that I am working on. A bit of back history first to explain why I want to do what I want done. My wife and I have been together for 20 years, married 14 of that. We tried dilegently to have a baby but the doctors kept saying it was not going to...

Track of the Wolf Bucks County Rifle Build Update #16

Yeah, I have been waiting. I can't tell you how many times I have watched the other segments over and over. I am almost to the point that I will be doing this in the spring. Keep up the good work, and prayers sent for the medical issue.

    Redoing your old work

I say go for redoing it all the way. This rifle has sentimental value, your wife will be impressed that you are still using and "beautifying" something she got you, you get to spend time in the shop on something that you like doing, and the satisfaction you will get in the end will be a great...

    What do I have?

I have a J. Garner that is in .54 cal. It is a very nice piece with top shelf parts and wood. Mine is in steel, no patch box, and no carvings--just a simple and beautiful rifle. I am sure you will find that your rifle has a sweet load--part of the fun is the journey to get that load!

    Next rifle--.32,36,40???

Thank you all for the insights and experiences. I have it narrowed down to a .40 and .36 cal. The next step will be determining the style I want it in, find a builder or do it myself with a kit, and lastly rock or cap. Right now this is the way I am leaning: .40 cal swamped brl, 38-40"...

    how fast

Back when I was shooting a lot of prarie dogs I wished I had a chronograph, and after reading this thread I wish I still had a chronograph. I think I will put a chronograph on the wish list for the Mrs.s this year----she might get it since it will be the first time she asks what I want and I...

    Period Correct??

Once again, I give the caveat that I am new to the HC/PC/vous type of learning. Saying that,I have been around different levels of learning in an educational level and in the athletic world. There will always be those who try to downgrade people to make themselves feel better about their...

    Period Correct??

Amazing how the meaning of a word, or its placement in a statement can cause a whole different meaning. There is a reason American English is the hardest language to learn. I been working on it for almost 40 years and my Okinese is great, Southern App is pretty good, Southern tidewater is...

    Period Correct??

LD, you are right sir. I had a professor in college who was a great guy. Dr. Osburne had just graduated college, working on grad program when Japan decided to interrupt his educational process as he put it. While being a ROTC person, holding a degree, being a lot "smarter" than the average...

    Period Correct??

What I do "know" is that I am new at it, and I am sure that I will find more like minded people. I don't want my previous post to sound elitist, I just like being around like minded people. Saying that, I will share a drink with anyone to swap knowledge. The problem that we have around...

    Period Correct??

Thank you, you are right. When one takes the modern 20th-21st century thinking, and steps back to the period they are interested in a whole different level thinking is needed.
