What division would you shoot a shot gun?

I may go ahead and bite the bullet and pick up that shotgun mentioned in my previous post -- So if I run patched ball in it would I qualify for the trade gun divisions in Rendezvous?

Need help -- I found this shotgun at a local gun shop.

I found this 12 gauge ML shot gun at a local gun shop... The price was too good to be true so I was wondering if anyone can provide some insight. http://s1178.photobucket.com/albums/x375/Earl_Scott/ Any information would be appreciated.

    Recomendation for first Muzzleloader

I was thinking potentially a .50 caliber percussion Kentucky pistol but it is close to the same as a rifle. As people who teach new shooters what implement would you rather have them have?

    Canteen Lining??

The most common one that I here people use is is envirotex it is a 2 part epoxy available at many craft store chains such as Micheals. One word of warning is that it will soften with prolonged exposure to high proof alcohol. As for canteens I application may be difficult my experience with it...

Also not to muddle the mix further but what is better to start with a rifle or pistol? Also in regards to mechanical apptitude/general handiness I flatly leave a lot to be desired. So I am fearful of a kit as it would blow up in my hand.

Thank you all for the wonderful information and keep it coming as know absolutely nothing and want to absorb as much as I can. First, as to my son he is not ready to shoot due to issues beyond my control that occured before I gained custody so I was going to start him with knife or archery...

    Canteen Lining??

Please don't flame but has anyone tried using food safe epoxy for lining canteens-- I know people who have used it in making drinking horns in another reenactemnt group that I play in. I know it is not PC but no melting issues.

I primarily will be using whatever muzzle loader that I select with the forums guidance for punching paper and doing whatever events are available at rondevouzs. I am not a hunter so this weapon will not be used to pound the bush.

I will be attempting this solo in that the only clubs I have been able to find is either 2 hours north or 2 hours south, so I will be leaning on the experience of those gathered in this set of forums.

Thank you BrownBear. I do have a question that goes along for the novice would I be better off with a percussion cap model or a flint lock?
