    C V HEILEN,CARLISLE,PA

Any info on this gunmaker is appretiated. I found a half stock, back lock percussion rifle, marked C V HEILEN CARLISLE PA on top of the octagon bbl, about .45 cal.My first impression of it was that it looked like a Vincent. The stock was striped but it may have been burned or done with ink. The...

    Barrel Maker

You would be surprised at how many people who know I tinker with guns ask me if I can rifle a bbl. Its gotten to where I just say "Sure, the first one will only cost u $500,000. When they ask what in the heck I'm talking about I tell them thats what it would cost me for a button rifling...

They all shoot well, the .58 calvary carbine type is a real shoulder thumper as its fairly light. The hawkin .50 shoots so good w/ the green mountain 36" bbl that I can shoot the eye out of a knat at a hundred paces(well, almost)!

My 1st Flintlock, and 1st build.

I'm also starting my first build and I was thinking I would take my time and it would take maybe a year to finish, since I have to learn as I go.I see thats about on par for first time, and thats with over 2 decades of working on and building modern guns.I'm learnin these front stuffers are a...

    What happened here?

Very interesting. I once read an account of a person coming across the skeletons of a bear and of a person intermingled together. amongst the bones was the remnants of a hawken type rifle. This happened in the late 1800's I think. The person what found them drew a sketch of the scene and assumed...

    Homemade locks

I absolutly love it when someone takes some scrap and turns it into a work of art. Maybe someday I'll be able to do what you have done.People cant beleive some of the parts I have built from odd pieces of scrap metal for modern guns.I did it because I was po' and do it now cause I really enjoy...
