    Fast Flintlock

This is a vid I took of my buddy shooting my .58 This gun uses a chambers Dale Johnson lock, white lightning vent liner and good sharp flint. Vent is aligned perfectly splitting the top edge of the pan......primed with Swiss 4F. All of my guns go off like this. Just fill the pan level and let...

    3 months 'til turkey season.

Take it a step further....cut into strips, coat in egg, cover in 4c seasoned bread crumbs and deep fry for about a minute and a half or 2 min depending on thickness and then toss in your favorite wing sauce. :shocked2: I can eat so much in one sitting I get the meat sweats! :surrender:

Ken Moors , Christian's Spring rifle

Thanks!.....I do like the early guns as well. My wife works in the area of the 18th century Christian Springs gunsmith shop so there is a little tie to those transitional guns. Yeah I do get to the Lewisburg show every year. Its a must see event even if I have to put everything back after I...

Down to the wire PA hunt

It was a very busy fall and winter for me with home projects, and work, and all the daily trappings we wish we could avoid or remove from our lives! Before I knew it my favorite season to be out was almost over and I had yet to even tip over a powder measure. :shake: I buckled down and was...

    New TVM/Questions

File that sucker! Seriously pick a distance you want to zero the rifle for that is most practical for what you are shooting / hunting and get that thing shooting right on top of that front blade. Nobody is ever going to live up to the potential accuracy of a rifle guessing where the...

    Favorite 45 caliber loading?

Hanshi, What length barrel are you getting that 1700+ out of if you don't mind me asking? I haven't been able to chrono my .45 and was curious.....I was planning on trying 65-70grs of 3F out of the 47 1/4" Rayl barrel for deer this season. It's a touch low at 50 with 55grs of 3F and don't...

    Hevi-Shot in flintlock smoothbore?

I have been back and forth on this one quite a bit....probably spent more time thinking about it than it's worth! :headslap:  I contacted Scott at Colerain and he definitely wasn't dead set against me being ABLE to shoot it out of the barrel.....To paraphrase he said "I probably...

    Hevi-Shot in flintlock smoothbore?

I have a BUNCH of those cups on hand to use.....if they would fit through the .580 choked section of the bore. Not that it's not shooting good killing patterns at 30-35yds with nickle #5.5's just wondering if anyone has tried it with good results (or at least no noticeable damage) We are...

    Hevi-Shot in flintlock smoothbore?

Got to looking around my workshop last night and it got me thinking......I have a nice little supply of loose #6 and #7 Hevi-shot doing nothing but occupying space. Anyone ever consider shooting this stuff out of a flinter (or any ML barrel for that matter)? Its super hard of course, but the...

    Turkey gun looks ready!

I'm calling for the kid this Saturday for our youth opener and then the wife the following weekend for the regular season. Hopefully we don't kill all the dumb ones before I get to prime this thing up!

    Turkey gun looks ready!

22fowl, Yep your 30 yd pattern looks almost identical to mine on the brown paper. I was really surprised at just how tight these things really do shoot. Trust me after seeing those patterns I'm happy I put a rear sight on it from the get go! Also glad it shoots right to point of aim. I have...

    Turkey gun looks ready!

Mike that pic came from the builder...i think he had only snapped it a couple times at that point. I have a longer flint in it now and its hitting up where it should and scraping nicely. Good catch!
