Beretta made a very nice 12ga O/U muzzle loader in the 1970's. The lower barrel with the longer flash chanel was sometimes a problem with mis-fires. There was claim of a modification which all but eliminated this problem. Anyone know what that was?

Here is a copy of a post about the modification.

Thanks Sixbull, I appreciate your "fix" for this fine gun. Any advice on removing this part?

I tried to remove the through bolt using the tool that came with the shotgun, but it is hopelessly rusted in place, plus as you mention, it is soft and the tool, being harder than the bolt, it just rounded the corners.

Currently, I dismount the barrels, remove the nipple for the lower barrel, squirt brake cleaner fluid in the flash channel and clean with a pipe cleaner to remove any oil, remount the barrels, prime the flash channel with FFFFg, replace the nipple and fire. To confirm its working OK, I pour a loose charge of about 20 grs (no wads or shot)and fire with the muzzle elevated. If fires OK, then I'll load. This is alot of work.
