In the Pirates of the Carribean movies I noticed that Jack Sparrows pistol had two screws on the barrel opposite of the lock. What are these screws for? The pistol is supposed to be a real antique pistol, not a Hollywood creation.
Lock retention screws? I heard its a composite of many guns researched and made into one. Its a great looking gun, wish they made a firing replica of it.
In the first movie the original pistol was used and the second movie Bill Kennedy made the pistol. It is not made up of different pistols, It is a Perry London Pistol. I am now building two of these pistols, both mounted in sterling silver.
Yessir, proof marks is what they is, at least, that's where proof marks can often be found - on the breech end of the barrel. OTOH, seeing as how this is a semi-replica for a movie, who knows?
Yepper, they are the same proof marks and the stamps are from England.
Sorry Post Rider, when you asked about two screws opposite the lock, I thought Hangfeyer answered the question.
Well I'm a good way through building my CJ pistol. From the pics it doesnt look like its got sights fitted. I would like to fit something period possible a silver blade up front and an adjustable sight (windage and maybe elevation) at the back. Any ideas please.
