That's where my FIL used to hunt every Fall...hard times when cardboard plant left
Good town is MQT, but has really changed in last 15 yrs.

There was a "piebald" buck deer in the little herd that visits my back yard. It was mottled red/brown and white like a Simmental cow. Haven't seen it this year. That coloration isn't very effective camouflage I guess...
On the old Seneca Army Base in the NY Fingerlakes there is a herd of white deer. They originated from a pair of twins back in the fifties that recieved the base commanders protection....A dominant gene passed along, a few years later, there were and are more white (not albino) deer in the area than brown. They occaisionally get out, and we have seen them on the opposite side of Seneca Lake, where they swim across to avoid dogs. (seen it). Outside of the preserve they are not protected.
In NH White or predominate white deer are illegal to shoot. The town next to me has one hill/mnt. that have them seen several as have many others. We leave them alone.
