Lyman Plains Pistol recreates the trapper's pistol of the mid-1800's while incorporating the best of modern steels and technology. It's the perfect companion to a Lyman black powder rifle. This percussion pistol is loaded with quality features. The richly stained walnut stock complements blackened iron furniture, polished brass trigger guard and ramrod tips. The hooked patent breech takes down quickly and easily for cleaning. Just like the originals, the thimble is recessed into the rib and a detachable belt hook provides an alternative to a holster. A spring-loaded trigger and fast 1 in 30" twist make it amazingly accurate.

Open Range is my favorite movie next to Lonesome Dove. Robert Duvall is by far my favorite actor in western roles, next to the Duke of course.

I've got both movies taped in my Dish Network DVR along with as many of the Duke's movies that I can find on TV.
Hoping to see Kevin come back on TV as Wyatt Earp one more time. I won't miss out taping it this time.

My youngest son is named Augustus. I grew up in Bracketville, Texas. It’s down south not far off the Rio Bravo. Only difference between it and Lonesome Dove was Lonesome Dove was a much nicer town...

I have the series of "Lonesome Dove" on my dish DVR. I watch it once a week just to remind me of the valiant men that made not only TX,
but this country great !!! Don't you wish you could go back to those times and relive even just a weekend ?

I grew up on horseback riding fence and popping cows out of mesquite brush. Had more than one mount pushed out from under me. It’s hard, hot, dangerous and dusty. Everything in Texas will bite you, stab you or stick you. It’s not as great an experience as you think.

Don’t get me wrong, I am a sixth generation Texan strait up my dad’s side (1832). But living was hard back then and life was cheap. Capt Leander McNelly was a relative. Do some reading about him and how he interrogated his prisoners. Not much has changed, not much at all.

Yeah bite you, stab you, stick you, and dont forget eat you. Got pictures of my great grand parents, on both sides, and their old homes with the dirt floors and more kids than you can shake a stick at. Yeah my roots run deep here too.
