Hey black powder enthusiasts, one and all....
You might enjoy attending the Revolutionary War Weekend this weekend at George Washington's Mount Vernon. https://www.mountvernon.org/plan-your-visit/calendar/events/revolutionary-war-weekend/ See volley fire, and field artillery, and probably some cavalry too! Not to mention the house tours of George Washington's home!

I am going to attempt to mount a "cop cam as seen on TV" to the underside of my hat, just over my right shoulder to try and get some action shots of the line as it levels and fires at them Rascally Rebels!

Hopefully it will work, and I can get it onto YouTube for those that can't make it..., I'll post an update if I get "lucky" with some action footage.

Looking forward to seeing your video. Mount Vernon is on my list off places to visit. George is the father of the American mule. Very interesting on how he got them started in farming.

WELL POOP!
the Cop Cam didn't work right-out-of-the-box...well at least the one I got didn't...:(
So I'm returning it and going to try it again....so should've gotten it a week early and done some trial runs with it. Buying it Friday night while driving to the event was poor planning.

Not to worry..., lots of opportunities to come to dress up and sweat while shooting the Bess!

Sunday though from midnight on it rained Soooo Hard at Mount Vernon we did see this ship going down the Potomac River...,

AAAAaaarrrggghhh...!!!!!!
How did I miss this..???
I need to be better "plugged in" to events up that way. Too bad we won't get a video from "Queen's Own" Dave...apparently spying for the Royals didn't work out too well for him. ;)
Thanks for trying anyhow. Better luck next year. :thumb:

Thank you Dave. Those are some great pictures. Particularly the shots of the British Legion advancing at the gallop. That would be quite intimidating to a rifleman holding a single shot flintlock.

Cavalry is intimidating even when you know it's just a show...
Back in the '70s the artillery unit I was with was charged, while we were doing "day 3" of Gettysburg, actually next door to Gettysburg. The unit that charged us was about two dozen guys, and they all were on draft horses. (Seems they are less prone to injury and have a very laid-back demeanor). At about 100 yards..., we could feel them through the ground as they were coming.... I thought to myself "F*** THIS!"...and the formation split and went on either side of us, firing as they passed, and we of course sprawled in glorious poses on our guns, so that when the horsemen had passed and the smoke cleared, the crowd saw we had been decimated. I remember thinking how disciplined infantry would need to be to even think about standing up to such a charge.
