    What’s your favorite BP substitute.

I've had very good luck with Pyrodex P as a sub through my .50 cal Isaac Haines percussion rifle. On that note I'm not that fond of CCI caps, if I can find them I prefer the Remington caps they seem to fit better on my lock and give me better ignition.

    Twist ?

My Getz barrel is a 1:66 and she drives tacks with a round ball. Any reputable barrel company should still be able to make you a barrel in your desired twist I would think.

    What do I do?

YouTube is a great resource but if you are interested in reading on building the long rifle a book called Recreating The American Longrifle by Buchelle, Shumway and Alexander is an excellent resource book that will serve you well for finishing yours and possible future builds. Hope that helps.

    Hello from the Southern Tier

My name is Wayne and I'm from the Southern Tier of NY which is on the PA border. I got into muzzle loading in the early 90s. Lately I have had more time on my hands and am looking forward to more shooting time. Looking forward to learning more and meeting good people with similar interests.
