    Damascus Barrel Shotgun

I posted this question on another site but you guys might be able to give me some input also. My brother-in-law just gave me an old double barrel shotgun. It's marked LONDON FINE TWIST on the top barrel rib and was soft soldered on, something I will have to solder back on. The square hole on...

    Ball Roundness

I always figured the round ball loses some of it's roundness being rammed down the barrel anyway?

    Last Of The Mohicans

I can look out my window at Fenimore across the Hudson river. I would assume it's named after James Fenimore Cooper. About a mile upstreem is the famous Coopers Cave. Yesterday I was hunting with my muzzleloader in the Pilot Knob, Buck Mt area of Lake George, not far from Fort William Henery...

12 lb ball found Lake Champlain

I may be wrong but didn't the powder magazine blow up at Fort St Frederic at Crown Point? never know what was sent airborn. Used to spend a lot of time canoing and camping in the area and found a lot of old square nails by the shore. I remember reading that the site was also used as a military...

    Most accurate conical

I've had great luck with both the 250gr & 320gr LEE REAL bullets in my 50cal TC New Englander with a 1/48 twist. I use 60gr to 70gr of 3f black powder for target shooting and 90gr for hunting. They also shoot well with 90gr in my TC Pennsylvania Hunter with the 1/66 twist.

    Early CVA Mountain Rifle

Thanks guys. I might start by giving the Birchwood Casey stain a shot. I never heard of Sycamore being used for gun stocks. I did a Google search and found it's fairly common.

    Early CVA Mountain Rifle

I just acquired an early CVA from a friend of mine. He got it from his grandfather and it appears to be the Mountain Rifle built from a kit. The trigger guard and butt plate are steel. Nose cap and thimbles might be pewter and the patch box is brass. It has set triggers and the 32" 50cal barrel...

    PATCHING OUT BETWEEN SHOOTS

I keep a thin patch in a water filled container and fallow with a dry one. If I don't have water on hand, I'll stick a patch in my mouth for a bit, Mike.

    Lee R.E.A.L. bullets

Do you think Lee REAL bullets can lead up a bore? A buddy of mine just got a 50cal TC Renagade with set triggers and shooting supplies for $125.00 from an add in the paper. The owner hadn't shot it for about 10 years and the bore was slightly pitted. He's not very impressed with the 100yd groups...

    lead source

We have a metal scrap yard just over a mile away. I went there a few years ago and the owner was hesitant about selling lead, saying he was sure there were regulations on that sort of thing. I told him that I'd only use it to cast bullets and promised not to consume any and I dragged out a five...

    Lee R.E.A.L. bullets

I got the LEE REAL 320gr mold and have been very happy with them in my 50cal TC New Englander. I put three shots in the same hole at 50yds and the next two were within an inch of those. I'm getting the 250gr mold next. I was surprised to find they also shot very well at 50yds to 100yds from my...
