    Can Cabelas Pedersoli shoot slugs

I have a 12ga double barrel Pedersoli with screw in chokes purchased at Cabelas 4-5 years ago. I don't know the model or name of it. On the barrel it is stamped "89g powder" and "1 1/4oz shot". I have two "cylinder" chokes for it. Has anyone ever shot deer slugs or round balls out of one of...

    The Frontiersman

I have read this series of Eckerts books more than once and have had different editions of them each time they were read. All of them, including the editions I currently have all say "HISTOTICAL FICTION" on them. They are very readable books and he blends fact with fiction so well, I had to...

    Gunsmith of Williamsburg DVD

I haven't posted in a long while, so this may not be news. Colonial Williamsburg has finally put their "Gunsmith of Williamsburg" on DVD. I've bugged them for a long time to do this since I had two of the same show on video tape - one with bad sound, one with bad video. It was originally...

    Bullets for deer

What bullet works best for deer? I am using 50 cal. maxi-balls with 80-90 grains of blackpowder in a Traditions Hawken(1 in 48 twist)because I was not happy with round balls for hunting. I've made close shots that would seem impossible to miss, yet never find a blood trail. I recently took a...

Colt Navy Used in a Homicide

I too am in the world of blackpowder because of a mishap. My wife and I are more happily married than any other time in our lives, but one night a few years back we had an argument and she called the police. I was charged with a 4th degree misdemeanor domestic violence (which my "lawyer"...

    pedersolli shotgun trigger pull

I have a dbl.barrel Pedersolli shotgun I recently purchased from Cabelas. The front trigger pulls so hard you would almost think the gun had a safety on it you forgot to release. Does anyone know if the triggers are something I could easily adjust myself, or is this strictly a gunsmith issue?

    How do I make a muskrat pouch/bag?

I have a "cased" muskrat hide (that means it's hollow like a tube, not flat). I'd like to make a pouch/bag out of it and the head would be part of the flap. Any idea where I might find instructions on how to make one?

    Ram rod material

I'm looking to replace my ram rods. Durability is my concern, aluminum or brass are my choices - any reasons to avoid one or the other ?

    Set-triggers (Traditions Arms)

I just bought a Traditions "Crockett" in .32 cal. with set triggers. It's pretty hard to squeeze the set trigger (I'm aware of the factory recommendations for adjustment) and it seems pretty noisy when it sets, which could be a problem. So, with that, here's my question: Other than the factory...

    Holes in over-shot wads?

Thanks to all. The replies make plenty of sense to me - :hmm: except maybe that last one about the cornmeal. I thought they just used that stuff on shuffleboards and dance floors. If you add water to that mixture, can you make muffins ?

    Holes in over-shot wads?

Since I don't see a forum just for shotguns, let me ask here: I've been told I should punch a hole in the over-shot wad, but I don't why, how big it should be or how best to do it. I intend to use this in a 12ga Pedersolli double-barrel.
