    Newbie with serious issue

The CO2 extraction would be my first choice, and a bit less messy, if it works. Beyond this Roundball's grease gun method will work hands down, with nowhere else to go the collumn of grease will force the obstruction out of the barrel. Just a caution before you start once take the nipple out...

    Bragging Rights

Considerating it was a .75cal. ball the amputation would have been nearly complete on contact, I think. Toomuch .............. Shoot Flint

    What do I have?

From your pictures my first hunch is a "Tryon" or similar, from the Fort Pitt/Ohio valley area. Since you say there are no markings I would suppose it may have been made by a graduating apprentice under a master's supervision. Toomuch .......... Shoot Flint

    Who shoot bare ball?

Actually I shoot both ways, patched or bare-ball, depending on situation. I shoot a .67cal. Ultra-Hi. My common load is 70gr. of 3F with .017 ticking patched .648 ball.(used for hunting and punching paper) I can also use a .662 bare-ball over the same charge, for the same purposes. Both of...

    New to blackpowder weapons

I would agree with Colonialist and Jim on this, use dictates method. During hostile situations (for warfare) or at the range, load all chambers. For casual carry, leave one hole empty for safety. Toomuch ........ Shoot Flint

    investarm 54 question

Just my two cents, but a 58cal. drop-in might be the way to go (less expencive than re-boreing and you still have the 54cal.). Toomuch ....................... Shoot Flint

    New revolvers

I have noticed this with many replica (and origional) pistols with fixed sights, they seam designed more for point and shoot rather than pin-point (10-x) accuracy. Toomuch ........... Shoot Flint

Daly Hawken .50 barrel / drum

Leatherbark is right that earlier Chas. Daly rifles were made by Investarm, but Daly was only an importer that bought their rifles from the lowest bidder. Starting about 1990 they started buying their rifles from CVA. Toomuch ........... Shoot Flint

    a long gun

I would be wary of discounting the House boys assessment. The barrel, and some of the furniture, do appear to be of earlier than the rest of the gun, The hooked breach would have been a later addition (when the barrel was shortened). The stock also probably salvaged from an earlier piece...

    new shooter from Harrisburg,Pa

Hey nails, welcome to the fire. To answer your first question the basic starter for a flinter will be: powder: 3F for main charge (or 2F for large bores) and 4F for prime. adjustable powder measure extra flints (natural flints work best) box of round balls (appropriate calibre) patching matl...
