    Not really my thing, but I was offered one in a junk store for $150. Appears to be missing the nipple the cap goes on, also the ramrod (no big deal there). Looks to be .45 cal or so. Any info on this?

    Very frustrating range experience with my flintlock

    Gotta agree with you there I use it to bleach skulls and bones (don't ask). All the above advice is great - found myself nodding my head at most of it. Only have one tip to add: If your rifle has an easily removable barrel, take it off after the day's shooting and remove the touch hole liner...

    Flintlock hunting guides in Adirondacks?

    I'm looking for advice and recommendations here - new hunter, haven't taken a deer yet. Don't care about trophies, just the experience and want my first buck or antlerless to be w/my .50 flinter. Now I'll just sit back and learn while y'all discuss it :)

    Big game vs small game

    As a new hunter (didn't grow up with it), I get only a couple of tries at a buck per year (no luck so far). Someone wrote somewhere that a good squirrel hunter is just plain a good hunter so that's the advice I follow. Not real good at that either but at least I'm outside.
