    TobJohn: Personally I love the fishtail stock. I have a few Matchlocks and a Snaphaunce with that type of stock and I find it handles the recoil very well.

    If you mean Jurgen Kreckel, he is still alive. He retired from gun making years ago and is into photography now. I own one of the last if not the very last Matchlock Musket he ever built.

    At the range, I just cut a finger length piece of slowmatch and ignite it just before I fire it. This way I usually don't have to worry about the match and just take my time reloading.

    I recommend eye protection with a Matchlock or any other pan fired arms. You have no idea how many glasses I've had with burnt pit marks on them.

    Granth: Unfortunately I had severe problems with my TRS Dutch Wheellock to the point it was unshootable until Bolek Maciaszczyk remade the lock and now she fires great! From what Bolek told me about the basic design is that the geometry is off and some of the parts weren't hardened...
