    lead corrosion

Hi I purchased a handful of .32cal lead balls in a nice deer leather pouch from a gun show recently. The balls have a pretty good coating of lead oxide on them (white powdery). I'd like to clean them up before firing, mostly to keep the lead off my hands. Anyone have a method to remove the...

Need new rear sight Traditions Hawken Woodsman

Nuthatch...well you are the first person that I know of that has the same rifle. Everything I like, except the cheap plastic sights and the fact that they are screw mounted. As you saw, there are some alternatives, I am waiting on a reply to a message I sent to RMC to see if their universal...

Need new rear sight Traditions Hawken Woodsman

Okay I learned somethings today. Based on a phone call to Traditions, my gun was a run of weather resistant Hawkens made in 2007. Hence the laminate stock and satin nickel finish. The "normal" replacement sights are even worse than the original ones which were "real" FireWire types, the new...

Need new rear sight Traditions Hawken Woodsman

Thanks for the info and kind words about the rifle (hmmm...now that I think about it, don't have a name for the thing....) I'll give a call over to Traditions and see what they say. What you point out is/was the only option that I was facing. I had tried to find a ghost ring aperture type...

Need new rear sight Traditions Hawken Woodsman

Hi I have, from what I can determine, a non standard Traditions Hawken Woodsman in .50. I say non standard because I have never seen one of the same type before and it does not match the parts that Traditions has on their website. The wood is a gray laminate, the rear sight is a plastic fire...

    Broke a brass piece

So I'm working in this old cva pistol kit. I put the brass trigger guard in a vise to file out some rough spots. I didn't realize it but I tightened the vise down too much and it broke one end of the guard right where a screw hole is. How to fix this? Thanks!

    Dixie leather sling

Howdy, I have one of the Traditions Hawken .50 cal percussion rifles. I need to put a sling on it. I got one of them types from Dixie that straps on around the buttstock (I can figure that out) but I haven't a clue on how to attach at the forend. It has a loop at that end, but no holes in the...
