    Tummbling round balls

I have read that some shooter put there round balls in a case tumbler to bring them down a little in size and to get the spur off, would this be done with media or without ? and dose it work ?

Why doesn't patch lube hurt the powder?

I think it all bepends on how much you use and weather its a cream or liquid type, a patch that is only damp with lube will only affect the powder it comes in contact with the patch, where a patch that has a lot of lube (liquid type) can most likely run through the powder a bit.

    fouling up?

Dont put a dry patch down a dirty barrel, only wet patches until its clean.

    Fouling shots

I have four muzzleloaders and Iam yet to notice enough difference in POI from a clean barrel to a fouled one, I always hunt with a clean barrel so I do like the first shot to go where I aim, I just wish I could aim straight.

You can only have one muzzeloader and your heading to the hills

With a smooth bore wouldnt you run into the problem of having a gun loaded with shot when you need a ball?

    Bed sheet to patches?

I cut up all our old flannel bed sheets for cleaning patches(and the good ones to if the wife's not looking). And I also sneak as much calaco for patches as I can, I was told it's about .012 but dont know for sure.

    New to Ballistol

I have started using Balistol at a mix of 1:10 water, so far it has made a very good bore cleaner and patch lube. I keep some in a spray bottle and just wipe the bore with wet patches until they come out clean then wipe the bore dry with dry patches then a couple of oily patches to finish, I...

how much powder for lil kid?

My 10 year old daughter shot my .50 Hawken at 25 yards with a .490 ball, .012 patch and 20 grains of Wanno 3F, still kicked a bit for her but she thought it was great fun.
  12. R

.54 or .58 Thats the question.

Get the .58, the 285 grain ball hits hard and punches a big hole in target and animal. My hunting load for my .58 Hawken is 90 grains Wano 3F, .575 285 grain ball, .012 patch, beeswax-olive oil-solidefied oil for lube. Shoots about 1.5-2 inch at 50 yards. I think the .58 is great.
