    Patches Keep Coming out Brown

I think therein lies your problem. Many times I have read that one must not only thoroughly clean their firearm immediately after shooting, but also clean it again the next day just to be on the safe side. Others will likely chime in on their experiences and give you plenty of tips on how to...

Is Getz Barrel Co. Still In Business?

OK, thanks. I just had a question or two for him. Guess I am out of luck. Such is life.

Is Getz Barrel Co. Still In Business?

Does anyone know if John Getz is still making barrels? I looked him up on the 'net and called the number listed (570-658-7263), but got a recording saying the number has been disconnected and is no longer in service. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Redcoat says Hello

Independence Day seems the best time to reply to a Brit. Here's to you StoneDog,:hatsoff: and glad you're here (from another bloody Colonial)!

Is this a real traditional in line?

I believe that is called a "Babcock" rifle and it is not a cobbled-up home-made gun. I have a friend who has one and have seen it myself several years ago. Wish I could remember more about it though. :cursing:

Load 2 round balls per chamber?

Boldface added. Don't know anybody who uses paper-patched rounds in a revolver. Is there something I am missing here?

Pedersoli flintlock .45 Cal Mystery rifle

If your lockplate measures 4-7/16" long and 15/16" high, I believe you will find it impossible to get a better-quality lock from L&R or Chambers. I have a Dixie Deluxe Pennsylvania rifle made by Pedersoli (and so marked on the barrel). The date code indicates it was made in 1998. I too was not...

    You flinch, I flinch...

I'd bet a dollar to a hole in a doughnut that you would never see the pan flash in daylight if your eyes were focused on the sights. I have shot flintlocks for a while and have never seen it myself nor have others whom have never shot a muzzle loader, when given a chance to shoot mine...

    Best Pietta M6 x .75 Cones/Nipples?

I second Hawkeye2's advice and experience regarding Ampco nipples. I have found that CCI #11 caps fit and function on my Pietta '58 Remington just as well as the Remington #10 caps. You might want to give them a try.

    Sheet Lead

Yes!!!  Take all you can get. Sheet lead is sometimes still used for roof flashing around chimneys, etc. GREAT stuff. Have used it many times.

    Pietta 1858 & Pyrodex

I don't have a conversion cylinder myself but I am guessing they are only rated for use with factory cowboy-type loads, not full-house .45LC stuff. Could be wrong though.

    In praise of olive oil

You can only do that if you are from Kalifornia. And, you must use an organically-grown lettuce leaf for patch material as well as some non-lead PC mystery metal for a ball. :rotf:
