    Pedersoli Bess with wooden ramrod?

I made a 1742 Bess with a Getz .77 barrel and a wood ramrod. I’ve been shooting her since 1992. Still have the original rod. I use spit patch pillow tick and a ,745 ball. No issues what so ever.

1842 hardware on an 1816 conversion?

I am in no way an expert on excavated item's,but I do have a rather extensive background in wood restoration(furniture)but that wood look's AWFULLY good as compared to the extensivly cleaned metal. Extremlly tight inlettingand no real discoloration from the meatal to the wood. But then the...

    Last One

From what I understand, the masters,"back in the day",had the apprentices do the grunt work, then he would do the "fun" stuff. Since he didn't have to strain his eyeball's and other parts that wear out,he was able to continue on for a few more years. Cant prove any of it,possable reckless...

    double flint on the way

Folks are curious and interested in your new gun. We all would like the info! I had one,(dbl flint 20)I built years ago useing the Recreating the dbl barrel shot gun book, rather easy,IF you have that book. I used 60grs of 3f,over powder card, felt 1/2" wad, thin card,1-1/2 measure of shot and a...

    brown bess sighting HELP

Not going to make a big deal out of it,but you did say flip. Quotes and adding an s gives it past tense. I dont get the issue. Sir. Quite a few slow motion video's show everything out the end of the barrel before the barrel moves. Not an expert. Sorry you are offended. Didnt mean to.

    gun flints

This is the only stone point I can guarantee is fromthe pre 1800's. It was carbon dated to be that old. I asked if they could be more specific, like June 3rd,1765,they said no. Darn it! Thats the arrow head at the 1 o'clock position. Coolest item I own!

    brown bess sighting HELP

Ball is way past the muzzle before it "flip's". It's all a matter of sight picture, how much barrel you show, and the previous poster is correct, the high comb of the Pedersolli is a rather difficult fire arm to use,and that IS by design. The Brit's didn't want the line soldier to "aim" his...

    My favorite bag

I'm a bag maker, leather worker and gun builder, just like 99% of everyone here! I took Ken Scott's class a couple of yeas ago and I really enjoyed it. Learned a few thing's and taught a couple too. I made this bag for a .32 Squirrel gun I have,"Ugly Betty". 3-4oz veg tanned. I have 2 Hershal...

    New French Tulle

I'm not as concerned about the parts used,if built over here instead of "back home" any parts available would be used, and since it's stocked in cherry,a re-build is most likeley. What I'm concerned wih is the shape of the lock panels and wrist area. All due respect, they could be a little more...

    Confusion!

I have some more questions about this, what forum should I go to? General persona or 1812? Thanks.

    Confusion!

What are the chances of a Farmer or hunter comming up a day or two later on the scene of a fight, dead still laying there, and grabbing one of the Bess's laying there and running off with it? I'm not a historian,I have a TRS 1742 Bess that is scarey accurate, and my "persona"if you will is a guy...

    Cheater barrel?

We actually caught a guy with cut rifling @6" below the muzzle in his N/W gun! Talk about not having "The Spirit of muzzleloading" in him! He had won SO many matches, someone noticed one of his patches had the same look that rifles give them.
