    Ramrod question

    I have one of those brass ramrods from October Country. It works great but is too heavy hanging below my long Pennsylvania rifle barrel. I've also tried one of those plastic delron rods and it's like trying to push a wet noodle down the barrel. Wood it is for me.

    I use a round toothpick and keep a roll of Teflon pipe tape in my shooting box. A couple of wraps of Teflon tape around the toothpick which I drive into the touch hole works real well for me.

    Yes, it has been warm and leaves are all out in most places. King salmon are even starting to pulled from the rivers.

    Thick steel washer. One side of them usually has a fairly sharp edge from when they were punched out. Pull the rod through at an angle and it will scrap the rod down fairly quickly. Resharpen the edges when dull by laying the washer flat on a whetstone and rubbing in a circular motion.

    Cheapest and easiest ramrod taper tool is a common flat washer. Washers are usually stamped out of metal and one edge of the hole will be fairly sharp.
