    Sheep's Wool Wads?

Felt wads/bore buttons work good. I use them in my 53cal smoothbore. Powder, over powder card, a couple bore buttons, shot and then an overshot card. Better pattern than if I used a 1/2" cushion wad. I am also currently using them in reloading bp shotshells. Wool felt can be gotten from...

    Bag Flask?

Why not just use a small powder horn?

    Caps

I just put in an order to Third Generation. We'll see how it goes. Remington's aren't my first choice but they better than nothing.

    BIG powder

Yup. It looks like the rice coal I burn in my stove.

    Change over to bunnies.

I used to have a beagle and her name was Sadie. She never did seem to care much for rabbits. But squirrels and chipmunks was a whole 'nuther story. Yep they can be very bullheaded. LOL.

    TC Hawken find

I hear you on logistics. Kinda thought that's what you were referring to as being a problem. Keeping things simple does have it good points. :hatsoff:

    Crockett rifle

I have a Crockett that I got in trade about a month ago. I am very happy with it. Enjoyed it immensely even though I have only taken it out once shooting. Shooting a pop can at 50yds right from the get-go. Shot about a dozen or so times with no problems. 20gr 3F, .010 patches and a home cast...

    My first powder horn

Looks to be a fine job on that horn.

    Barrel leading?

I personally haven't had a problem with leading in a barrel. I was shooting lubed .54cal 435gr T/C Maxi-hunters for years with no problem. I never even gave leading a thought. It remained deadly accurrate. The only reason I am backing off on conicals is because of the expense.

    Traditions Deerhunter .50

I have one in percussion that I bought in 2000 and now I have one in flintlock. The one in percussion I reworked the stock a while back to make it look a little more tradional. It is a very handy little rifle. Light weight and a pleasure to carry while hunting. Good brush gun too.

first attempt at making my own balls

It could be just the lead you are using. I have had that problem with some of the lead that I have used a few times. You'll just have to grin and bear it. That's just one of them issues you can come across with scrap lead. When you go to scoop out some lead to cast the balls drag the ladle...

    First Muzzleloader

I think one of the key words you mentioned was bench rest. Unlesss you are sitting totally upright, shouldering as you would off-hand shooting, the gun will punish you. Shooting off-hand is less punishing. Gun weight also has a lot of to do with felt recoil. The heavier the gun the less felt...
