    Lock or trigger problems?

Thanks to all who have helpfully replied. Loosening tang bolt seemed to help some. Still when brought to full cock to fire requires set trigger pull which does click then when pull front trigger cock moves slightly with click then if I pull front trigger again drops normaly to strike frizzen.

    Lock or trigger problems?

When brought to full cock I have three choices to trip cock, pull set trigger pull set trigger pull front trigger, pull set trigger pull front trigger pull front trigger or just pull front trigger. I have tried screw between triggers in various positions. I hope this all makes sense.

    Lock or trigger problems?

I hope someone can help me. I have a TVM Virginia rifle with a large siler lock. The problem I am having is that when I cock the cock then pull set trigger I either need to pull set trigger twice or pull front trigger twice to drop hammer. It's as if it stops again at half cock and I need to...

    broken springs

Get your springs directly from Chambers. I just went through a similar experience. Track spring was to weak to flip frizzen. Chambers will only warrant locks assembled by his outfit.

    broken mainspring

Sorry this took so long I had computer issues. I made the lock semi functional by grinding /filing on the frizzen spring. Also contacted Chambers who told me they would make lock right if i sent it to them. PA flintlock is over in my area so lock is in the mail.

What is the best procedure to balance a frizzen spring? Tried filing the sides some, seems the same. Was hoping to hunt with gun this week.

Testing with lock removed from gun. Currently believe new mainspring is weaker.Best i can get it so far is flint scraping frizzen completely but frizzen doesnt flip the whole way open.

    broken mainspring

Thank you all for your replies. Got the new spring and installed it. Now it seems i have a new problem, or is it a symptom of what caused the first spring to fail? Upon testing lock after installing new spring no matter what flint configuration i can come up with when i trip lock flint hangs up...

    broken mainspring

I guess i mispoke i meant triggering the lock with the frizzen closed. I sometimes do this with an old flint for practice or to test anew flint for spark.

    broken mainspring

Yes i thought about contacting them but wanted to get gun fixed as quick as possible so ordered from TOW. Still wondering if i did something wrong to cause this. I occasionally dry fire to check for spark and for practice. My wife says i play with it to much.

    broken mainspring

Thank you for your reply , picked up a mainspring vise somewhere along the line. Is there any thing i need to know as far as installation? Is this common enough that i should carry a spare and a vise afield with me?
