Mixing black powder with Triple 7

I would think that one of the 2 powders has more weight than the other. So lets say you mix the 2 up and lets say 777 is heavier. It will settle to the bottom of the container and goex will be on the top. So now your using strait goex cause all your 777 is on the bottom. I have an idea that...

It's a Springfield kind of Christmas!

try 40 grains of 3F with the 510 minie or a minie with a thin skirt. Make sure you put some kind of lube on the minie. I have 2 muskets and 40 grains will make a ragged hole at 50 yards all day long. Another key to good accuracy is bullet to bore fit. .001 under bore is ideal but I have seen...

    Swamped barrel installation

I am trying to envision how I would do it and what kind of issues I may have. With the swamped barrel there is no real straight edge. How do I keep the centeline in the bore parallel with the centerline in the stock? In other words how do I keep the barrel from looking up or down once it is...

    Flash channel cloges up

I will try that. Nipples are new. The ones that were on it were battered pretty bad.

    Flash channel cloges up

I have this antique SXS percussion SG that I really like shooting. There is only one problem. After about 7 or 8 round I have to really clean out the flash channel on the right side barrel. It becomes so full of crud it will not fire after 7 or 8 rounds. I can shoot the left barrel with no...

    Pitted bore

Well I have just never done it before. I was thinking along the lines of jug choking if its possible but I am not sure if it is. If not then I would like to have the barrels honed but I dont know if I would feel comfortable doing it myself.

    Pitted bore

I would not do it myself. I dont think the barrels are solid steel but rather Damascus twist which if I am not mistaken is a soft iron. Can anyone recommend a smith to take a look at the project?

    Pitted bore

I picked up an original SxS. The bores are pretty rough. Would this be a good time to think about jug choking or can I get someone to hone the barrels or should I just let it go? Seems to shoot fine just patches and wads are rough going down.

Refirbed 69 Musket's Day at the Range

I dont know if you would want to use this load for hunting but take 50 round balls and place them in a coffee can. Shake them like a mad man for about 30 seconds. Then put a coat of lee liquid alox on them and let that dry over night. somewhere between 45 and 50 grains of goex 3F should do the...
