Sight picture vs. hold for .45 cal SMR

BillinOregon, saw your post and the 45 is required in a lot of states to be legal for any big game, deer included. Also are you in the Sweetwater near Abliene? In my old stomping grounds.

    Green bore lights

Ew to me but always ready to learn! What is it with the green light? Does it show rust or imperfections better than white lights?

    Antique Firearms Auctions

I can attest to the stories about antique vehicles. My wife was left her dad’s 1929 Plymouth U sedan that had not run in over ten years. Exhaustively looked all over for someone with the expertise to get it running. Finally found a local mechanic that said he could but took 9 months and charged...

    Can i shoo this

Crow, please go to and check the Colrain barrel website. It states they have made jug choked turkey barrels for sometime and also recommend against using a round ball in the jug choked barrel. They even have suggested loads with the information on their website.

To tack or not to tack, that is the question…

TDM, TOW has them but they are plated also and not all brass. Once they get worn or rubbed a little, the silver metal show through. Never realized it was so hard to find pure brass tacks. Thanks for the info and help TDM.

To tack or not to tack, that is the question…

Anyone know where you can purchase real brass tacks for decoration. Tandy sells brass plated tacks but none that are all brass. Thanks. elkhorne

    Caliber for a non-collector

Like a previous member said, if you are looking for a caliber that you can hunt squirrels with, please check your state game regulations. In Louisiana you can not hunt deer with anything smaller than .44 but you can not shoot squirrel with anything larger than .36! Obviously those making the...

What ML movie should be made now?

They need to make a movie about the life and times of Charlie Goodnight. Been reading a great book about him and lots of history to back it up. He was an early Texas Ranger, Indian fighter, with the Ranger group that recovered Cynthia’s Ann Parker, an early Texas cattleman, started the Goodnight...

Follow the docs directions, take it easy, work some and read a good history book! Speedy recovery and keep all of your friends posted so...

Smokey Plainsman, if this is a personal not a forum message, I a, curious if this builder from the OP is the same that sold me my Fowler. I realize rules prevent the truth coming out to protect the membership thanks

Should I reach out to builder or adjust at home? Gap between lock and barrel

I purchased a Fowler from a member on another forum that sold the gun as a shooter. He said it was built by an individual who was an experienced builder but was deceased. When I received the gun, it had a large crack in the wrist/top of the lock inlet. I communicated with the seller and he had...
