Kibler has announced a Hawken Kit in the works.

I know there’s a lot of excitement out there for this kit, but seriously folks…it’s HAWKEN, not Hawkins, not Hawkin, not Hawkens. Whatever Kibler comes up with, whether it’s an early J&S or a later Sam Hawken, I’m sure it will be a wonderful representation of an iconic rifle. -Steve

    Trigger Sear Arm Height

I’m with Ian on this one. You don’t have to make that trigger plate mechanism work. First, draw out the angle needed for the sear to engage the trigger bar. Then buy or make a trigger with plenty of material to engage the sear where it needs to. File off the yokes from the trigger plate and pin...

Chambers smooth rifle with 20g barrel

A 20 gauge Chambers smooth rifle was my first build. It was challenging, but I had an experienced builder (my dad) there to help guide me. The Chambers family, especially Barbie, were great to work with and even provided some pictures to help me develop the carving. I cannot say enough good...

    Buff Leather

There is a tanner in Montana that supplies buff tanned deer. The leather shop in Williamsburg told me about it while I watched them sew up a pair of breeches. They wouldn’t tell me who it was or contact info though…

    Hawken Classic.

My 82 year old dad and I drove from Colorado to St. Louis for the Hawken Classic last year. For a first year event it was very well done and we are going to make the trip again in 2024! Like others have stated…I’m also a student and admirer of Hawken firearms.

Searching for M1803 Harpers Ferry detailed specs/history

Here is a model 1800 I just completed from The Rifle Shoppe parts. The M1800 has the octagons rounded (below the stock line), a tapered/flared barrel and round bottom rifling. There are other subtle differences including the rear sight and front ramrod pipe, but overall it’s very similar to the...
