Flintolock pistol rises, never hit the target :-(
I have an East India Company Sea Service pistol circa 1790 - to 1820 date range. I took it out and ran it through it's paces and found that with light charges the shots were all over the place. .36 Colt Navy that powerful??????
I have no doubt that the .36 was adequate and did the job - I do want to point out that during the fighting in the Philippines after the S.A.W. - the Army found that the 38s that they had issued lacked the umph to do the job quickly and reissued 45 colts which did the job much better -

I have a target rifle made by Judge Resley and it has a very small hole drilled in the muzzle facing side of the snail.
