So I was at the gun show today and saw a flintlock pistol that I think was Navy Arms. It was a Kentucky, had rifling, and had a brass barrel. Can anyone tell me about it?

BTW, it was $120, but in order to keep myself from spending too much, I only came in the door with $160. I ended up buying a gun that loads from the wrong end, so no flintlock pistol for me.

I've never heard of Navy Arms importing a Kentucky pistol with a brass barrel.
In fact, I've never heard of a commercially made replica being made overseas with a brass barrel.

The Pedersoli Queen Anne was imported with what looked like a brass barrel but it was either a special browning technique they used or it was plated.
I saw one of these QA'a at a gun show and it didn't have the right color for what I normally think of for brass.

OK you guys. I'm ready for you to tell ol'Zonie he just put his foot in his mouth but you'll have to provide proof. :rotf:

Don't let that stop you, everybody has his 15 minutes in the spotlight eventually. .

Do me a favor, will you? Look in your Navy catalog and see if they have a percussion double, 12 gauge, with brown barrels 28" long, weighs 5 lb. 14 oz.. Made by Pedersoli, but they wouldn't say that. Thanks.

Brass barreled pistols were often carried by sea men as the brass would not rust with the sea air.

I don't know the answer to this question so it really is a question, not a comment. Were the old original "brass" barreled navy pistols really made of brass or could it possibly have been made of bronze. I don't know when bronze became one of the metals of choice for maritime use due to it's corrosion resistance. If bronze was in use at the time of the manufacture of the pistols, I'd think they were more than likely made of bronze. But, like I said, I really don't know. :idunno: Anyone know??

I had an Italian made brass barreled Kentucky in percussion. Got it sometime in the 1980's. Not only a brass barrel in 44 cal, but also rifled.

I examined a 56 caliber brass barreled pistol a feew months ago. It was rifled and appeared to be a production barrel of some kind. However, the lock had the strangest interior works I had ever seen. A clock spring arrangement inside a large tumbler and the notches on the tumbler engaged directly on the trigger the same as a cap and ball revolver. Otherwise it appears like a standard sidelock.
