Nope, not in MN. C&B revolvers are out, but a single shot pistol permitted if conforming to the regs below.

Here's what MN say about legal firearms for deer/big game:

"It is at least .220 caliber and has center fire ignition;
It is loaded only with single projectile ammunition;
The projectile used has a soft point or is an expanding bullet type;*
The muzzleloader (long gun or handgun) used cannot be loaded at the breech (muzzleloading revolvers are not legal for taking big game);
The smooth-bore muzzleloader used is at least .45 caliber and
The rifled muzzleloader used is at least .40 caliber;
Muzzleloaders with scopes are legal during the regular firearms deer seasons, but are not allowed during the muzzleloader season except by special permit for hunters with a medically certified visual impairment"

Don't try to find some logic, just our government at work. Put away your C&B revolver and get out your single shot pistol.

not North Carolina, but they may be used for feral hog - over bait too, which is a no-no for game species, feral hog are classed as 'pest'.
the black russian boar in the Western Area cannot be hunted with c&b revolvers or over bait. go figure?

Muzzleloading handguns of any caliber are legal for deer in Kentucky. For elk they must be of at least 50 caliber, have a barrel at least 6" long and produce 550 ft.lb. of energy at 100 yards.

I met a gunsmith years ago who could keep em in an 10 inch circle at 100 yds with a 44 Mag and a two hand hold. While it is conceiveable that a muzzleloader pistol could be that accurate, the ball might just bounce off the deer. Of course I mean a pistol, not a short pistol stocked rifle like that bounty hunter gun the Italian's sell.

Re-read your PA hunting regs manual. On page 45 it states: "Flintlock Muzzleloader Season: Flintlock ignition, single-barrel muzzleloader long gun, 44 caliber or larger, or 50 caliber or larger handgun , using single projectile ammunition."

Ooops! My bad. :redface:
Realized he was asking for about a cap lock regulation.

Surprisingly, Maryland allows use of cap and ball for deer hunting. Forty caliber and larger with 40 grains of powder in each chamber.

Not sure I would hunt boar with a C&B revolver. In CAS a misfire or lost cap is a nuisance, hunting hogs it could get you hurt.

I doubt I would risk using a pistol if I were ever able to hunt elk in Kentucky. I'd want all the range I could possibly have if I were using a traditional smokepole.

Maine requires .40 cal for deer, any ignition, and projectile, and propellant. Can use any gun for anything else.

I asked the warden service Col. at difw if cap & Ball revolvers were legal as double barrel originals arent. He told me revolvers were ok as they were loaded thru the muzzle aand required a single pull of the trigger to fire each cylender.

I found it ludicrous that modern m loaders can use smokeless powder and jacketed bullets and are legal. But an original double rifle or shotgun wasnt. Cant expect too much out a any state agency can ye?

Ohio does not allow them.
I believe Iowa does. When I was researching the C&B revolver hunting fatality there this month, there was no indication he was carrying a dis-allowed weapon.
