Met up with SDSMlf yesterday at his club range. It had been many many years since I shot and recently had my gun refreshed and ready for shooting. It was great getting to shoot and become reacquainted with the process from loading. shooting to cleaning and picking up a lot of great tips from his years of experience. I have only shot percussion previously and got to shoot a flintlock for the first time. I really appreciated his invite and time and sharing of his supplies which I did not have. I really learned a lot and look forward to shooting with him again.

Had my first shoot of my Adler .45 percussion smoothbore. Its a small gun, but lovely to shoot. 5" group at 45 yds with ball. Given how stiff the trigger is I was quite happy once I got the hang of it.

You are lucky all mine have to hang on the wall UK So stuck with arrows and pcp Scorpio bsa. It could be worse just messing around with my 1885 •5 muzzle loading martini , the firing pin hits the cap internally , nice set triggers, Swiss of course. The peep sight was tricky as it’s designed to fit above the butt plate , sublime position . ie you shoot it lying on your back . Not for me strange positions of yesteryear target shooting I had to open up a peep hole, 1 of 6 on a rotating disc, as so small looked like there was a fly in the hole, I get the same thing looking through a microscope , scratch or something on the eyeball . Cannot normally see it. It’s almost an unmentionable but worth a few lines on the string. It’s cold in London but shot some arrows and now a bit warmer so fiddling with my toy

Oh that’s my little fox . Sweet little thing she must learn to hunt for when we are away , not much to eat around here we gave her some drops in her food as she got a bit of mange .

Take care love from London

Finished reading @ETipp s squirrel hunting book. Really enjoyed reading it. It has me looking forward to oct 1st when most of our small game seasons open.

I also fiddled with that cursed 🤬 Cva set trigger. Yesterday I found a trigger for it on numrich and ordered it. So naturally today I decide to try reshaping with a small stone that I found in my dad's old tool box and was successful 😀 The return spring for the front trigger is gone so now I'll have to make one. Feeling confident about that so this trigger set may end up used after all.

This has all been a slow process since I have archery projects that must be completed.

Wet weather closing in for the weekend. Saturday club shoot canceled 😞

Life goes on. 😀

Cast #5 .490 ball which got me about 200. I have them in a big empty tums bottle in the back of the truck so they can tumble off the sprues over the next few days.
Also cast 50 Lee REAL 250gr, and powder coated them with Eastwood ruby red. I'm tired of the pain that lube is on conicals, so these are to be an experiment. I still plan on using a greased felt wad, hopefully it works out.
Also have been working on a custom patch lube, and created a few different emulsions, as well as an attempt to create the Lehigh valley lube from the patent. There's lots of good options, but I haven't found one that is good for hunting and the range, for all day shooting without swabbing and for leaving it loaded all day long. Maybe one of my creations will do the trick

cast some more .490 rb.
shot the new Colonial to find it's favorite recipe. seems to be 65g fffg and .015 patch lubed with bear grease. shot 40 rounds with no swabbing. could have kept going but it started raining.
tested pan charging and it will fire with a tiny pan charge. those pans could hold a bore charge i think.
i just put a 1/4 pan full maybe and it loved it.
young neighbor showed up with a satchel full of unmentionables and we finished the day shooting cartridge pistols. my every day carry hadn't been rung out for a while. seems i need to practice with it more. 4 inch 25 shot group at 20 yards.
now sitting here eating a bowl of butterscotch pudding.

cast some more .490 rb.
I need to cast some 490 as well. I and the grandson both shot 495 at a recent match in New to us barrels. Tooooooo tight with favored #40 drill. Much simpler to cast balls than to launch a patching turd hunt. Even though the right stuff is probably in the giant garbage bag full of a 40 year plus collection of an assortment. But, that's a whole 'nother diatribe.
