Very nice Flintlock contracted by Johnson ln 1832.
The lock reads “US JOHNSON” with faded eagle. Behind the lock reads “MIDDn CONN.” ln arch below 1832. Barrel plug has matching 1832. Barrel shows clear U.S. and inspector markings. The markings remain clean and visible and the arm appears to be original flint in every respect. Lock is mechanically fine with strong springs. “US” on buttplate. Reminents of a rack number cartouche stamped forward of the buttplate. Proper button tip ramrod is present. Both sling swivels. Present and clear left side cartouche.
Condition: The metal surfaces are an oxidized brown and gray patina with scattered fine pinprick pitting, more moderate on the buttplate, the rear tang shows lightly rolled edges. The walnut stock rates very good perhaps showing evidence of an old light cleaning still with defined edges. Expected dents and handling marks expected with age. No damage or repairs that would need to be noted. A very good type III 1816. Not interested ln trades.
Free shipping, fully insured (USPS Priority 2-3 day) to lower 48 states. l accept Checks, Money Order, PayPal (2.9% Fee).
Feel free to ask questions of request more photos. Located in Dallas TX if you happen to be local.
Thanks for looking and have a blessed day.
