Here is a photo of an original "gull" spring and the replacement "Hood" spring. The Hood spring is made of piano wire and can be adjusted to get the trigger pull where you want it. My original Smith with the gull spring had a trigger pull north of 15lbs. After replacing it with the Hood spring it went down to under 5lbs and I've since adjusted it to just over 3.
