Thanks for the links and the picture fellows. You would think that I could have found these sites. I checked every thing I could think 0f and used google. Thanks again. This will be a slow project, but will post pics when I have them.

It seems like I read a few years ago that in some black powder pistol competitions they don't allow the use of a Saw Handle pistol.

If anyone is planning on buying one of these and competing it might be a good idea to check if the rules allow this shape of stock.

Zonie I haven't shot competition in years, however, when I did shot, the club I shot with allowed any black powder pistol. I want to build the flintlock pistol just for myself. Thanks for the note about the rules.

The Saw Handle seems to be off limits at most of the shoots I attend around the country. I do not understand why. The old TC Patriot is close and Lyman Pistols with grip stops added are OK.

No, outlawing a Saw Handle pistol doesn't make much since to me either.

Looking thru the "ANTIQUE PISTOL BOOK" by Smith and Swanson in the percussion section I found Pistol handled guns made by A.W.Spies, W. Neal (Bangor, Me), H.T.Cooper (New York City), W. Bilighurst (Rochester NY), Bently, Ethan Allen and Van Wart & Co. London.

All of these were single shot muzzleloading pistols and they were all made in the 1800's.

They are perfectly legal for MLAIC (International Muzzleloading) competition, plus the USIMLT (U.S. M/L Team) is always looking for new members, so why not give that a try?

another, but a pocket pistol
