I am having frustrating problems with the double trigger on my CVA Hawken. The set trigger does not engage. I spent many hours adjusting the front and rear trigger adjustment screws on the underside of the trigger assembly and the sear adjustment screw on the lock. I've tightened and loosened the trigger mainspring and confirmed that the lock mechanism isn't binding on the stock. I can successfully adjust the primary trigger pull, but nothing I've tried will engage the set trigger.
I am beginning to wonder whether a previous owner messed up the trigger mechanism. On close inspection, the small silver spring connected to the primary trigger looks like it was bent slightly, and engages the primary trigger under (not inside) the slot milled in the primary trigger. It looks like it might have been clipped or shortened.
Do I need to replace the primary trigger spring or the whole trigger assembly? Any suggestions on where to find a replacement spring?
I see two CVA trigger assemblies advertised, an old version (like mine), and a new version with a beefier housing and different spring setup. If I need a new trigger assembly, will the new version work with my old version gun?
Advice from experienced CVA owner welcomed.
