The big brown truck just dropped off my package from MVTC with my new East India pattern brown bess. I got it unpacked and checked it out for any damage, and I was lucky, there was none! It was packed very well same as the last one I received from them, they do try to prevent these guns from being damaged, they wrap them well with bubble wrap, and rolled corrugated board near the lock, they get an A for effort. The first thing I noticed about this one over my last one is this one is a darker finish, my other one had almost a reddish hue to it, and it has a nice grain to the wood. The trigger pull is very smooth and crisp about 4 pounds very nice!.The fit is very nice also, I have taken some pictures, but they do not do it justice, the camera I have is a cheapy, but I tried to show how well the fit was, how well the frizzen fit to the barrel, and so on. All in all I am very pleased, I am going to clean it up bore wise, and take a few shots with it to see how well it shoots, if it shoot as good as it looks I will be very happy with it.
Here are some pictures.

Hello All

Seems like the negativity towards "indie"
guns has eased up some on this site or
did I speak too soon? :idunno:

He shouldn't worry what others think. Most of us are happy for someone when they get a new gun.
Make smoke!

Perhaps the India gun makers have made improvements in their quality. No one can say that most (all) of the earlier ones were "first rate"! If the gun is and does what you want, what matter does it make what others say?

Good looking Bess, looks like they have been doing better work on the trigger pull It's about time. You have now joined the ranks of Indian made Musket Owners Assocation.

Thank you all for your kind words, I know it is not the best musket on the market, I would love to have an original 1st model bess, and maybe someday I will be able to afford one. I believe the Indian muskets fill the void where there are people out there that just cant spend the high dollars for a musket, given the choice we all would really love to have the very best, but reality kicks in now and then..
and there are Indian muskets out there that you do have to stay away from those from NV Sikligar especially.

That wood looks like mango. We just had a store open that sells furniture from India, and the wood they use looks the same as your stock.

Negativity for the Made in India offerings? They are what they are at a price. My worst complaint is they seem to grind and polish any detail out of the metal (or just fabricate it with few hard edges).

Let's see who might remember this avatar?
