I have a 12ga pedersoli from 1970 that I tore the nipples up on. I ordered a new nipple wrench to replace the one that tore up the nipples but I can't find a reasonable simple answer as to where to get a replacement nipples.... Does it matter very much or should any standard #11 nipple work? Any experience or idea where to get one? Thanks guys.

I'll go out on a limb here by checking the Pedersoli on-line web site. The illustrated parts breakdown has a part number that does not exist in the on-line accessories store. the most likely nipple since the illustrated parts breakdown for the Gibs rifle lists the same part number for the nipple as the 12 gauge sxs shotgun will be the one I have the link. I believe that other Pedersoli percussion rifles utilize the same nipple.

To save one from looking at the link, the nipple will be 1/4-28 UNF rather than a metric nipple.

They require like 65$ or something before they will ship at the pedersoli site obv that was the first place i went and ive been trying to find the same thing on another site but i havent found an exact match. Ill probab;y call ToTW tomorrow. I dont see a 1/4-24 on ToTW maybe im dumb but i only see 5/16-24... is that the same? surely not

Once again taking a risk by making the assumption that the Pedersoli nipples will be almost identical to the Track of the Wolf's standard rifle nipples, RST-S. Here is where the trusty (digital) Vernier caliper earns its place in the tool box to measure the existing nipples you have removed from your 12 gauge shotgun. You can compare the measurements to Track's measurements as shown in the catalog. I wouldn't pay those extraordinary Pedersoli is setting for their nipples either.

On a side note. My Pedersoli’s nipples were put on by a gorilla. I bought some bits and a Chapman handle from some guy who sells on Amazon. I didn’t know about Track of the Wolf back then, but other nipple wrenches in spite of fitting couldn’t remove the nipples without camming off. Since getting them off the first time, I lube with a small amount of high temp grease (that is purpose built for percussion nipples) and they come off very nicely with my little wrench now. Grease is blue and smells funny.

I went and bought some from harbor freight and the damn things only goto 100th of an inch..... cheap piece of garbage lol. My tools are failing me!!!!

@Acohill1, I have the more expensive calipers from Harbor Freight that can measure to 0.001". The ones you have will get you measurements close enough to compare to Track's nipples. Mine compare, in measurements, well to the Mitutoyo Vernier Calipers that my Toll Maker father used for 26 years.

These aren't that expensive from Harbor Freight and while they aren;t up to the performance standards that a machinist would want, they are acceptable for most of our purposes.

I just use the two-pack of Traditions brand nipples that are 1/4-28 and cost about $19. Work well and last a long time. These seem to be pretty easy to get, several sites have them. Also, the TOTW branded nipples are about $8 each and they've worked as well.
Right on I guess if they don't fit just can just send em back. I saw em on Amazon believe it or not and was hesitant.... they arnt blued tho unfortunately but they sell ultra blue on Amazon too so 🤷‍♂️

Maybe just start here????

There is no need or reason to have blued nipples on your shotgun. Use the anti-seize lubricant on the threads when you install the nipples, and they only need to be tightened to snug. There's no need for the threads to provide a seal when there is a hole through the nipple.

The only place you'll find more nipples is..... well, nevermind.

If you want a "blued" finish, just get the black steel. It will blend right in.

I agree with @Grenadier1758. Calipers, along with metric AND standard thread gauges are always solid buys.

travelers antiques and trading has every nipple available, give them a call they can help you out. travelersantiquesandtrading.com

Pedersoli has been usin 1/4 28 nipples for quite a long time. But, 1970 is pretty fsr back, and I do have a Pedersoli 12 gauge SxS from roughly that period that uses the 6mm. I would use Ohio Rusty's technique, see above, to check out what fits, although I would bring the nipple and check it with a nut at the hardware store. Same result, fewer misunderstandings.
