I’ve been shooting a CVA St. Louis Hawken off and on for many years. I put together a mountain man outfit, made a shooting bag and a powder horn and have been to several rendezvous over the years. I’ve always wanted to build a flintlock longrifle so, I thought I better get it done while I’m able. I’ve spent the past year gathering parts and tools to build a Lancaster pattern .50 cal rifle. I still need a stock blank and some tools. I came here to learn everything I can about building a rifle and it looks like there’s a whole lot of interesting topics to explore here. Looking forward to it.

Welcome from The Woodlands, just north of Houston.
You've found the right place for info. Thousands of years of accumulated knowledge.
Like someone said, when you start your build, post photos here for us to admire.
Whereabouts are you in Texas?
Stay warm! It's 22 and dropping at almost 10pm.
RanchRoper is laughing, I'm sure!
