Too far from KY!!! suposed to be a good one though. Hope it is better organized than the ONW.
The national events have gotten so politically oriented that they seem more like campain rallys, complete with pre-election parties, than reenactments. The national council acts like they are broke all the time, then comes up with huge money prizes and perks for their favorite events ($500 cash prize to the winner of one clildrens' game!!!), and no one acts like they can multiply the camping fee x number of camps. Then there is the thing about changing locations, booshways and staff every year, in every region, so they can beg for land to camp on and reinvent the wheel. Got to hide the profit $$$ some way!! They cut the ONW budget fron $20,000 to $9,000 one week before the event was to take place.
It's a pitty that several private groups organize better, and bigger events, with more merchants, tighter historic standards, and better quality merchants than the National organization that specializes in living history.
