Ok, completely misunderstood what you were saying. Sounds like you just shortened the ‘length of the pipe’ in the equation. Will likely wear faster as you mentioned in an earlier post, something I would keep track of.
 
I think that going to 3F sized granules of the Tripple 7 powder did more to improve reliability than the coning of the nipple. But, as others have noted, if the coning seemed to work, then keep on shooting. Pay attention to any blow back of the hammer or sudden change in group size on targets.
