Small game hunting is the best. What'd it take to stop that squirrel? .50? .54? something bigger, maybe?

Hey Hanshi..My buddy Jeff is toting a 54 cal. he just loves it!..and it sounds awesome from the other end of the woods when were hunting!

Had a great season good luck to all you small game hunters here!

Been a very mild winter to date..shhhh! the snow god's can hear all!
I shot one fox squirrel this trip...My son and hunting buddy were plugging away at them with the 22's..Put them in the choice spots! :v
Plenty of squirrels with spurts of activity.
The one hill side is loaded with walnut , Hickory and oak trees..the snow looked like super highways with squirrel tracks.
This time of year they do not lolly-gag..only saw 2 sunning themselves....
Used a distress squirrel call with mixed success..just seamed to irritate them?
Very happy with the 36 cal using 000 buck shot and patch.
Next time I hunt the place I'm bring the crow call..They were every where.

This weekend the river was froze over for the 35 miles I drove along it.
Just a few ice fishermen testing the back sloughs..mostly perch and bluegills. This week the river will open up again(unseasonable warm spell).
Best bet for the big cats is right below the many lock and dams in the deep holes...Light blue 1 oz. jig bare hook. Mostly blues and channels.
Looks like winter may return next week.
