I received my Left-Hand Hawken type rifle from John Bergmann and I cannot be more pleased. I considered a .58 caliber, but since Whitetails are really the only thing I hunt with a muzzleloader I stayed with the .54 since I have had such good success with it. This one was inspired by the Kit Carson rifle. I asked for a 31" tapered rust blued barrel, with a plain Maple stock, as most of the real Hawken rifles that I looked at in Cody, Wyoming had rather plain stocks. The remaining furniture is similar to the Carson rifle. The dimensions are perfect for me, and I also asked for a deeper and wider notch in the fixed, rear sight. The barrel is classically signed on the top flat. John stays in touch and asks questions before he proceeds.

I ordered the rifle in November, and it arrived this week. Nine months order to delivery is outstanding for a custom build. We have all heard the stories of two-to-three-year waits. I'm still waiting for an unmentionable from a well-known outfit in Montana.

Can't wait to get it to the range and work up a load. Order from John with confidence, you won't be disappointed.

that rifle is spot on! The metal to wood fit shows one what can be done by a master craftsman.
