Got to shoot my .36 today.

These are the first 10 shots out of the rifle since Brad Emig worked on the lock last fall. 10 shots, 50 yards, Swiss FFFG powder, .350 ball, dawn and water patch lube, pillow ticking patches cut at the muzzle, H&H barrel. The flyer occurred when the barrel heated up in the sun and I was getting mirages. The group measured 1 1/4" without the flyer.

I'll have to take some new pictures. The color on this rifle has mellowed considerably from these first pictures.

I'll bet that the recoil was pretty close to a .22 long rifle with 35 grains or powder!

I didn't cast them, they were Hornady I believe.

Believe it or not, the recoil was substantially more than a .22 from a 6.5# rifle. I could tell I had been shooting a rifle after the session.

I had a .36 flint rifle years ago. Even though it probably weighed around 8 pounds or so, it had a surprising (but not painful) amount of recoil when shooting 50 to 60 grains of 3f powder.
