During a match yesterday, I had to stop and knap my flint...no big deal, but it occurred to me that I had no recollection of when I had put that flint in. I finished the match, and know I fired 27 shots there, and guess I must have fired that many in the most recent prior one...that's over 50 shots out of one surface (I reversed the flint when I got home and cleaned the gun)...I'm just curious as to what life most of you expect to get from a flint...Hank

As many as possable...

It depends on the flint itself.

Some flints are harder than others, some have internal flaws that can't be seen.

I have had some flints last over 80 shots, and others just last 10 with my T/C Renagade.

Maybe flint life is just a flash in the pan?

I usually get 60+ from the large 7/8" English flints I buy, usualy a little less from the spauls I make, but often these will have two edges to use
I reshape/sharpen the big ones when they wear down and they will work in my large Siler locks.
