anybody have ,make them??? i have been looking at one in jas townsend...pic would be great....

I have heard the term but had to Google it to find out what they really are. Sorta a hooked machete but there are/were many styles. Used for fighting. Ugly things that would do ugly things to the unfortunate getting hit with one.
Who ye after? :shocked2:

do we know if that gentleman forged it or cut it from stock???it looks great...

I'm guessing he cut it out of an old "buzz saw" blade and then ground to shape. There are many patterns of bill hooks/fascine knives-

If you're interested in old tools of this type here's a good site for pictures of originals of all types-

"Brush hooks" are what we use for clearing up here. Basically the same thing on an axe handle. Pretty darned handy. I always assumed they had been around as long as fascine knives and were simply a larger, stronger alternative.

Scroll down on this page for a sketch of one version. Google "brush hook" to see lots of examples. I was looking for a link to the style we use up here (the one from Ben Meadows is it), but most links I tried are dead. Might mean they're falling out of fashion and going to be hard to get. Buy yours now before they're gone! :rotf:
